| Message: | I have a 2003 Mini Cooper w/ the CVT transmission. The EPA says (corrected for new method) it's rated 22/29 mpg. I've actually had fuel economy as low as 16 for a tank's worthy of all-city driving. I've rarely had a tank over 30mpg, even with all-highway driving. Is there something I can do to get better fuel economy out of the Mini? Thanks in advance. P.S. The current model gets a much better estimated fuel economy by the EPA. This is even with the old rating adjusted to current standards. Is the new generation engine that much better? I always thought it was because the Mini was kinda heavy. 2003 CVT: 22/29mpg http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/calculatorCompareSideBySide.jsp?column=1&id=19298 2007 CVT: 30/37 mpg http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/calculatorCompareSideBySide.jsp?column=1&id=23922 | ||||
