| Message: | Hi all, I've got an 83SC with 154K miles. I've owned it for just over 3 years and it's been fairly dependable. However, on the way home today (10 miles with 2 stops) it died about 2 miles from home. No warning, no early symptoms, it just stopped running, wouldn't restart. I called my wife to come with the tow vehicle, which took about 15 minutes. Another 15 minutes to wait for traffic to clear enough to get across the road, and I was towed home. Well, almost... The tow hook dropped loose turning onto my street, so I tried the ignition and the engine roared back to life! I gassed it, and made it back to my garage, including reversing into my usual spot. I left it running for another 10 minutes or so, and it ran fine. So, at this point I don't know if it's electrical or fuel related. I adjusted the valves last summer, replaced the fuel pump a year ago, and had the distributor rebuilt about 6 months before that. Aside from that, I haven't had to dink around with it that much. I don't really think its a fuel problem, since it restarted after cooling a bit. The temperature today was around 70F, so the engine really wasn't even that *hot*... And the route home is through a 50mph zone, so I wasn't even pushing it that hard. I'm really at a loss on this one. I am hesitant to drive it now, as I really hate having to coast off the side of the road, but unless it's broke solid, it's pretty hard to diagnose. Any suggestions?
