Message: I was having similar problems with intermittant starting last summer and found that the problem was the fuel pump relay in the engine compartment. Drivers side, inside the rear wheel arch. Pulled the relay out, spread the prongs a little so it would make better contact and put it back in. Hasn't not started since then!

When the car was acting up, the symptoms where: When the key was in the run position (one click away from cranking) none of the dash lights would come on as they should and I couldn't hear the fuel pump working. It would crank when I turned the key but wasn't getting gas and would just keep cranking w/o starting.
