| Message: | | Many 928's have electrical drains, current flowing when it should not. Some are simple things like a glovebox light that doesn't switch off, others are more troublesome like wires shorting from old insulation.
The battery is HUGE, so drains may only partially discharge the battery, and no problems are noticed, but cycles of draining the battery greatly reduce the life of the battery.
Huge battery that needs recharging every time the car is running puts a strain on the alternator, which reduces its life. One way for the battery to fail is for one of the six internal cells to go bad, and that also places a large load on the alternator (since that battery never reaches fully charged voltage).
